Polk keeps on keeping on, showcasing characters and telling the stories of Black gay Americans. Patrik-Ian Polk’s latest film, Blackbird, has been making the film festival rounds since February. Based on the novel by Larry Duplecha, Blackbird is the coming-of-age story of a misfit choirboy (Julian Walker), struggling with his sexuality in the conservative Christian South. Blackbird stars Academy Award Winner Mo’Nique, Isaiah Washington and D. Woods of Danity Kane. Blackbird is a must see! Watch the trailer and see the festivals screening it this month below.
